PALANQUIN
Palanquins (litter, sedan chair, palkis, howdah, houdah) were a luxurious method used by the rich and noblemen for travelling. Modern use of the palanquin is limited to Indian weddings, Pilgrimage otherwise mainly for tourist or commercial purposes in South East Asia. They're the subject of controversy as animal rights groups.
